Day 1 (Mombasa – Tsavo West)
Early in the morning you will be picked by your guide at your hotel. He will give you a short briefing about your safari. After the briefing you will start your journey to Tsavo West National Park via the Mombasa – Nairobi Highway. Back in the day Tsavo used to be one big park, but because of the construction of the Mombasa – Nairobi Highway it was divided into Tsavo East and West. Today you will visit the west part of the park, which is known as “the home of the leopards”.
The landscape is dense and hilly, making it a little more difficult to spot the animals. However, nature is breathtakingly beautiful here. Once you have entered the park you will start with your enroute game drive towards your lodge. Around lunch hours you will arrive at the lodge, Ngulia safari lodge, where you will check in and sit down for a lovely lunch. After lunch you will have little bit of time to relax.
Later in the afternoon you will head back into the park for your evening game drive, which will last for about 2 hours. Try you luck this afternoon and spot as many animals as you can. When the sun starts to set it is time to head back to the lunch for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2 (Tsavo West – Amboseli)
Enjoy an early breakfast and check out of the lodge at 7:00hrs. After you have checked out of the lodge you will have a morning game drive towards Mzima springs where you will have a 1 km walk accompanied by a ranger/guide, who will brief you about the attraction. Millions of gallons of water sprout out of rock forming springs and big pools of water, where hippos and crocodiles call this place “home”. After Mzima springs you will continue your game drive towards the exit of the park. After you have left the park you will start making you way towards Amboseli National Park, formerly Maasai Amboseli Game Reserve, is located in the Kajiado County. The park has little vegetation due to long dry months, it also houses swamps and a dried-up Pleistocene lake. The park is famous for viewing free-ranging elephants up close and of course for the spectacular view of Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest freestanding mountain in the world. Amboseli is home to many animals, including elephants, buffaloes, lions, cheetahs, impalas, hyenas, zebras, wildebeests and giraffes.
Around lunchtime you will arrive at your lodge, Kibo safari camp, where you will check in and sit down for a lovely lunch. After lunch you will have the opportunity to relax a bit.
At 16:00hrs you will head into the park for your first evening game drive. Try you luck and spot at many animals as you can. When the sun starts to set it is time to head back to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3 (Amboseli – Tsavo East)
Another early morning today with another early breakfast. After breakfast you will check out and head into the park for your morning game drive. After the game drive you will head to the exit of the park. Once you have left Amboseli National Park behind you, your journey to Tsavo East National Park will start. Tsavo East National Park is the East part of the old Tsavo Park and is also know as “Theatre of the Wild”. The landscape in the park is mostly grass savannah, which makes it a bit easier to spot the wildlife. With a little luck you will be able to spot the complete Big five in this park. The animals you can spot in this park are herds of “red” elephants, buffalos, rhinos, lions, leopards, cheetahs, gerenuks and a large variety of birds.
Once you have entered the park you will start with your enroute game drive towards your lodge. Around lunch hours you will arrive at the lodge, Voi Safari Lodge, where you will check in and sit down for a lovely lunch.
Later in the afternoon you will head back into the park for your evening game drive, which will last for about 2 hours. Try you luck this afternoon and spot the whole Big five. When the sun starts to set it is time to head back to the lunch for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4 (Tsavo East – Mombasa)
Wake up early this morning, as you will go out into the park for an early morning game drive at 06:00hrs. Animals will be more active in the morning hours so chances for spotting more animals are bigger. Around 08:00hrs you will head back to the lodge for breakfast. After breakfast you will check out of the lodge and start your enroute game drive towards the exit of the park. Once you have left the park you will head back to your hotel in Mombasa.
