4 DAYS MOUNTAIN GORILLAS AND GOLDEN MONKEY EXPERIENCE.
Mgahinga Gorilla National Park is located in the south western Uganda in the district of Kisoro. Mgahinga National Park was established in 1991 and it sits on an area of 33.9km2. This Park Is commonly known for the mountain gorilla and golden monkey safari experience where the golden monkey co- exist with the mountain gorillas, the saying ‘’gold meets with silver’’. Mgahinga is bordering the Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda, Volcanoes National park of Rwanda and Mgahinga Gorillas National park of Uganda do share the Mountain gorillas. Basically our 4 days’ mountain gorilla and golden monkey safaris experience will begin either in Entebbe or Kampala.
BREAKDOWN OF THE SAFARI
Day 1: Transfer to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking and Nature walk
Day 3: Golden Monkey Experience
Day 4: Departure
DAY 1: Transfer to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park
Our company representative, will meet you from the hotel after your breakfast. Exchange words of greetings and embark on the 12-13 hours’ journey to Mgahinga national park with first stopover at Uganda equator where you will have some refreshments and take some memorable photos of you at the equator. Proceed with the journey, with an en-route stopover at Mbarara for lunch at the Igongo cultural Centre where you enjoy African local foods and still you can order international foods. After lunch, continue with the journey to Mgahinga with beautiful view of long horned Ankole cattle, tea plantation, banana plantation, ever green vegetation, rolling hills, local homestead and you will see local people doing their daily work. Upon arrival at park, you will check-in at the selected lodge, have some refreshment as you wait for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking and Nature walk
Rise up at 6:30 am, take bath, take breakfast and pack your trekking gears, enough drinking water and pack sacks/food. Your safari guide will collect you from the lodge and drive you to park’s headquarters where you will be brief on dos and don’ts of endangered mountain gorillas trekking. You will meet up with other travellers and game rangers will divide you into group of 8 people per gorilla family. Drive off to starting trail with accompany of well-armed game ranger who will be communicating with other game rangers who follow the movements of mountain gorillas and they will inform your team where to locate these giants. The trek takes probably half an hour to 8 hours depending on the movements of these endangered gorillas. This gorilla trekking experience is breath-taking, memorable and one of the kind you shouldn’t miss while in Uganda. You will encounter the gorillas and if all is on your side you will also encounter other wildlife like forest monkeys and bird species. After the memorable gorilla trekking experience you will go back to park Office where you will be rewarded with gorilla trekking certificates, return to your lodge for some refreshments and then take a nature walk to see the Batwe people, the caves they stay in, the Bafubira communities who dominate the place. Then go back to lodge and rest for the Night.
DAY 3: Golden Monkey Experience
Wake up very early in the morning around 6: 30am take bath, breakfast and transfer to park office for briefing on the dos and don’ts concerning the golden monkey trekking. You will either take a full day golden monkey habituation or a half day golden monkey trekking preferably. Proceed to the forest in groups of 6 people in search for the golden monkeys, when you come across them you will be given only one hour to enjoy viewing them. After it all you return to your lodge have some relaxation, dinner and overnight.
DAY 4: Departure
The 4th day marks the end of your 4 days’ mountain gorilla trekking and the golden monkey experience, and you will be transferred back to Kampala or to Entebbe International Airport to catch up with your departure flight back to your home country.

Kids below age of 15 are not allowed to trek gorillas
Book your gorilla permits in advance like two months before the safari
