Everest Base camp Trek

Written By Sandip Tiwari

The Everest Base Camp Trek is certainly one of the most popular trekking packages in Nepal as well as a once-in-a-lifetime experience that leads you to the base of the highest mountain on the planet. An ultimate goal for trekkers from across the globe, this astounding 14-day trekking route in Nepal takes the hikers towards the cultural richness and the natural beauty enveloped in the Khumbu region. Treading from the backyard of the ethnic Sherpa clans and frequent encounters with high altitude charming monasteries, this splendid trek commences with a mind-boggling flight to Lukla, the inevitable spot to begin your nature walk. The spectacular trail leads through numerous suspension bridges adorned with multi-hued prayer flags, marvelous rhododendron forests, picturesque villages, gushing streamlets, steep ridges, awesome glaciers, and glacial moraines. The frequent rewards of the nature hike are the stupendous views of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Makalu, Lobuche, Khumbutse, Pumori, and many other Himalayan giants. The world heritage enlisted site of Sagarmatha National Park is a major highlight during the walk to the base camp. Another cultural highlight would undoubtedly be a visit to the highly sanctimonious Tengboche Monastery. The morning stroll up to the black rock Kala Patthar offers the most dramatic and elegant views of the gigantic Everest along with a mesmerizing sunrise observation.

Frequent trekkers who are physically fit and have sound health, with nominal exposure to high altitudes can book this easy trekking in Nepal. The entire trekking trip is easy yet the only challenging factor is the altitude, which seems to contribute to making the adventurous journey in the Himalayas more difficult. The best seasons to trek to the Everest Base Camp are spring and autumn when the weather mostly remains perfect. Join Royal Holidays to get attached to the indigenous people in the Khumbu region and gather a huge experience of the far-flung villages and culture of the ethnic Sherpas. Take delight in the picturesque landscapes and the eye-catching mountain vistas. All you need is good health and a strong determination to hike along the exotic and enchanting trails roving through luxuriant valleys, alpine meadows, countless streams, and suspension bridges.

Super Sugamo Local Foodie Adventure

Written By Arigato Travel

Truly go local! Even in a popular city like Tokyo, you can find hidden gems and off the beaten track adventures.

Tokyo’s best-known spots are worth a visit but getting away from the touristy areas is the best way to really experience the local culture. On our Super Sugamo Foodie Adventure, you can explore a truly hidden gem neighborhood with a 100-year history of food and flavors. Meet some of Tokyo’s friendliest shop owners. Taste special snacks, and enjoy a delicious local lunch. Those with a sweet tooth can also have fun trying a few things only available here. This Tour is extremely Family Friendly, kids and adults will find so many things to enjoy together!

This friendly town is not far by train from famous areas like Shibuya but it is a world away in terms of atmosphere. Sugamo is often dubbed “Harajuku for the Older Generation”, for its bustling shopping streets favored by the 60+ crowd. Because of this, the neighborhood is one of the best places to really connect with locals and soak up Tokyo’s downtown atmosphere of old. Of course, you don’t have to be a grandma or grandpa to enjoy the unique snacks and browse shops with traditional crafts for sale. Don’t forget to ask your guide the story behind the Sugamo “lucky red underwear” and visit Kouganji Temple for its healing reputation!

We will begin the tour with a local sweet treat from a shop that has been in the area for about 100 years! This charming location has a great friendly atmosphere and creates original snacks and classics with a twist found nowhere else in Tokyo.  Next head on to Jizo Dori the famous local shopping arcade where you will have a chance to visit regional shops celebrating prefectures across Japan, stop at a famous temple, and learn about this haven for older Tokyo residents who are still quite young a heart!  As we mentioned, the district’s popular, 800-meter long street is also affectionately known as the “Old People’s Harajuku” in a fun comparison to the Harajuku district’s status as one of Japan’s foremost youthful shopping and fashion destinations.

Browse pickle stores, snack stalls, interesting shops, and take in the local vibe on your way to a favorite spot for a delicious lunch set! After lunch, we will do a bit more browsing and finish off with more regional sweets and snacks.

This is a must-do activity and tour, especially for people looking for a local connection, interesting stories and sightseeing, and of course, Delicious Food!

Price: ¥18000 / Person

  • Babies and Toddlers 0 – 2 years old – free
  • Children 3 -12 years old – 50% of adult price

After settling down, you’ll gather for a group orientation session. Our expert team leaders will guide you through the important details of your route and offer advice for a successful trek. Day 2: Arusha to Machame Gate (1,800m/5,905ft) to Machame Camp (3,000m/9,840ft)

Elevation Gain: 1,200 meters (3,935 feet) Walking Time: 6-7 hours Distance: 9km

After waking up to a warm hotel breakfast, you’ll depart Arusha for the Machame Gate, the start of numerous Kilimanjaro climbing routes. After reaching the park gate, our team will assemble all your gear while you register with the Kilimanjaro National Park authorities. Meet and get to know the rest of your support team, including our friendly chefs. Then begins your first trekking experience to Machame Camp. Here you’ll venture across spectacular terrain, including tropical rainforests and grasslands. Catch glimpses of wild animals and exotic plant species as you move through moss-covered forest underpasses. Travel into drier terrain surrounded by high grasses and fields of sprouting wildflowers. You’ll then stop and admire a view of Mount Kilimanjaro’s mighty summit, Kibo Peak. All the while, your porters and cooks prepare the camp ready for your arrival.

You’ll also have gradual exposure to increasingly higher altitudes to help with the acclimatization process. After lunch, you’ll climb the lava-filled Shira Plateau then hike through arid pathways. Watch for the shrinking vegetation the higher you ascend Kilimanjaro, including the exotic Lobelia Deckenii and the Scenecio dwarf shrub. Finish the day at Shira Camp where you’ll rest and recuperate for the next part of your exciting journey.

Get ready for a hike eastwards towards the gorgeous Shira Plateau along ever-steeper terrain. The highlight of your day will be the approach towards Lava Tower, an incredible 300 ft tall volcanic plug that transforms into a looming passageway. Then you’ll take a rapid descent towards the Barranco campsite, famous for being the most scenic one on the route. You’ll set up for the night surrounded by massive valley walls and the stunning Kibo massif. View spectacular glaciers draped with sunlight while you enjoy a hot, steaming meal.

Survey spectacular vistas of bleached glaciers and gleaming shards of light then journey near the Heim, Kersten and Decken Glaciers. As the bronzed peaks of Kibo and Mawenzi Peaks come into view, you’ll stop and have an energy-dense dinner in preparation for the upcoming push to the summit.
