Depending on your arrival time, we can still have a town trip after lunch and sometime of freshening up during the evening. Shopping and sightseeing (Arusha) will be our main purpose.
Day 2: Arusha – Tarangire National Park (Tanzania)
After breakfast, our tour will officially start. We travel southwest to the Tarangire National Park, our first safari destination on the Northern Tanzania Circuit. Tarangire Park, is one of East Africa’s best places to see elephants up close, hosting about 4000 elephants. The national park is home to the second highest concentration of wildlife in Tanzania, after the Serengeti Ecosystem.
Wildlife includes, Maasai giraffes, buffalos, lions, leopards, baboons and a variety of antelopes and gazelle species. This diverse Tanzanian park covers 2600 km² of diverse habitats, ranging from grassy savannahs and seasonal marshlands, to woodlands and giant old baobab trees.
After game viewing in Tarangire we head to our luxury lodge inside the game park, The Tarangire Treetops. As you arrive at the Lodge, you are immediately greeted by a blaze of colour and a host of smiles all of which belong to the local Maasai tribesmen who have become part of the enchanting story that is Tarangire Treetops.
Day 3: Tarangire – Explore The Ngorongoro Crater (Tanzania)
Today we will rise early in the morning (not too early), have a descent breakfast at the Treetops. then headed to our next destination, the Ngorongoro.
Upon arrival, you’ll descend with your driver guide into the famed and one of the 8 Natural wonders of creation, the Ngorongoro Crater for wildlife and crater viewing. A large caldera, the crater formed when a giant volcano exploded and collapsed on itself some two to three million years ago. It is 610 m (2,000 ft) deep and its floor covers 260 km² (100miles²).
Estimations of the height of the original volcano range from fifteen to nineteen thousand feet (4500 to 5800 meters). The crater has some of the highest densities of wildlife on the planet (Big Five being the most prominent), including lions, elephants, zebras, rhinos, leopards, buffalos, gazelles, hippos and many different bird and insect species. The Ngorongoro Crater is well deserving of its UN World Heritage Site status and this experience will be a highlight of your tour.
Day 4: Ngorongoro – Oldupai – Serengeti
After breakfast, you’ll leave Ngorongoro En route, you will stop for a packed lunch at Olduvai Gorge, an archaeological site made famous by Louis and Mary Leakey when they uncovered the remains of Zinjathropus, an early hominid species that roamed the planet some 2.7 million years ago.
Thereafter, there will be another stop at the famous Maasai Boma, where you will get to know so much of the Maasai unique Culture, which is one of the very few well maintained Cultures in the whole Africa.
After Maasai Boma visit, your journey to the endless plains of the Serengeti via Ngorongoro crater will start where you’ll enjoy a half day of wildlife and migration viewing. Serengeti is the oldest and most popular national park, in particular for its annual migration of wildebeest but zebra and Thomson gazelle also join the trek looking for fresh grazing. Some of the animals found in the Serengeti (including the Big Five) are buffalo, giraffe, eland, topi, kongoni, impala, Grant’s gazelle, lion etc.
Day 5: Serengeti Full Day Game Drive
Early Morning breakfast, then picked up for the Hot Air Balloon Safari to different places in the Serengeti for maximum exploration of the Animal Migration. Here you will have a remarkable (Eagle’s eye) view of what is going on early in the morning within the Serengeti.
It’s time to make the most of the Serengeti by taking pictures, recording videos and enjoying the view. The Safari will take up to two hours then you’ll be returned to the lodge for your normal daily activities in which in this case will be completing the rest of the day tour.
In the afternoon there will be special bush-meal incredible lunch under a big acacia tree, where by you’ll have time to relax under tree and have variety of good food, drinks, deserts and snacks of your choice before hitting the road to the park for finishing your full day tour.
Day 6: Serengeti – Arusha
Morning breakfast and then relaxing day or optional day tour package can be done before your flight back to Arusha. By Afternoon/evening your flight will be ready and you will be transferred to the Serengeti Air Strip for your flight back to Arusha. In Arusha there will other activities to keep you occupied and of course happy. This will be your last day in Arusha and you can decide to make the most of it by Touring Arusha City and its joints before you leave.
You can visit Meserani Snake Park where the collection of snakes and other reptiles here is the main draw, but there’s also a corny yet informative Maasai cultural museum with mock-ups of home and bush life, which you’ll visit with a Maasai warrior. You can also take a 30-minute camel ride (additional cost might apply) to a Maasai village. It’s 25km west of Arusha along the Dodoma road.
