17-Day Indonesia Cultural Journey (3 Islands)

Written By indoexcursions

Description

Sprawling across the equator for nearly 5,000 kilometres, the 17,000 islands of Indonesia form one of the most evocative countries on earth.  On this fascinating 17-Day Hosted Expedition, (limited to 8 participants) travellers visit the exotic islands of Java, Sulawesi and Bali, exploring their azure waters, slumbering volcanoes, towering temples, lush tropical forests and untouched coastal marine habitats.

The expedition is designed exclusively for discerning travellers who are seeking a seamless and luxurious journey, filled with intellectual experiences and rich in insider experiences.

We pride ourselves on demanding only the highest calibre of service delivery, and have carefully crafted tours that include only the most outstanding accommodation partners, avoid the well-beaten path taken by traditional tour operators, and showcase a side of Indonesia you’re not likely to discover on your own.

Activity Details

On Day 1, travellers make their way to JAKARTA, the Indonesian Capital, where we meet at a 5-star hotel for a Welcome Dinner and Orientation.

Wasting no time on Day 2, we fly to Central Java to visit the ancient TEMPLE OF BOROBUDUR. Looming out of a patchwork of bottle-green paddies and swaying palm tops, this colossal 9th-century relic is the world’s largest Buddhist monument and a World Heritage Site.   Like Angkor Wat in Cambodia, Borobudur makes the rest of Southeast Asia’s spectacular sites seem almost incidental. IndoExcursions travellers receive special passes to stay on the Borobudur grounds outside of public visiting hours, which allows us to watch the sun set over the enigmatic temple – a wonder to behold.

On Day 3, we awake early at Borobudur to watch the sun rise over the temple whilst enjoying a “picnic breakfast” on a nearby hill.  After breakfast, we drive through the Java countryside to our next destination, the CITY OF YOGYAKARTA (“JOGJA”). Ruled by a Sultan to this day, Jogja is the  cultural capital – the “soul” – of Java. After settling into our Jogja hotel, we visit several of the galleries that line the streets of the city and showcase the highest craftsmanship in Java. On Days 4 and 5, we explore the vibrant culture of Jogja, including the palace of the ruling Sultan, and PRAMBANAN, the largest Hindu temple in Indonesia, built in the 9th century.

Early on Day 6, we board a small plane and fly to TANA TORAJA, a tiny mountainous region in the central highlands of the Island of Sulawesi.  The indigenous people of Toraja lived in isolation for millennia. Cut off from the outside world, the Torajan people developed highly-unique customs and traditions which have been the fixation of cultural anthropologists since the early 1970s. Overland vehicles await us when we touch down in Toraja, so we can immediately begin our exploration of this pulsating tribal culture. On days 7, 8 and 9, we have 3 more days to explore the sites, villages and stunning scenery of Tana Toraja with our native Torajan guides. A true mecca for travellers!

On Day 10 we fly to the Island of BALI to spend 7 days on an island that many consider to be the very definition of tropical paradise : magnificent vistas, looming volcanoes, lush green forests and terraced rice fields tripping down hillsides. Almost everything in Bali has spiritual meaning and leaves you with a lasting impression of reverence, peace and tranquility. Our native Bali tour guides  take us on a true “insider journey” filled with unique access that we simply couldn’t arrange on our own.  We visit intricately carved temples rarely visited by tourists,  stop at villages where locals prepare us meals while excited youngsters perform ritual dances . . .  and discover the true essence of the “Island of the Gods.”

After 7 days in exotic Bali, we enjoy a farewell dinner together, and, on Day 17, we fly back to our original entry points into Indonesia.

After 16 days on an intense cultural journey, we know you need some time to chill out on the beach and enjoy margaritas for a few days before heading back to your home-country.  Lombok (sitting just a  flying fish skip off the east coast of Bali) is just what the doctor ordered. The island offers 120 white sandy beaches, spectacular tropical reefs, outstanding marine life, vivid sunsets, exquisite resorts . . . everything you dreamed of when you planned your tropical vacation.

After 5 days honing our tans and catching up on our reading on Lombok, we enjoy a farewell dinner together, and, on Day 22, we fly back to our original entry points in Indonesia.

17-Day Paradise Islands Journey (3 Islands)

Written By indoexcursions

Description

Sprawling across the equator for nearly 5,000 kilometres, the 17,000 islands of Indonesia form one of the most evocative countries on earth.  On this fascinating 17-Day hosted journey, (limited to 8 participants) travellers visit the exotic islands of BALI, LOMBOK and KOMODO, exploring their azure waters, slumbering volcanoes, towering temples, lush tropical forests and untouched coastal marine habitats.

Join us for a 17-day journey across Indonesia (limited to 8 travellers). Visit the exotic islands of BALI and LOMBOK, and sail the KOMODO ISLANDS on a luxury liveaboard sailing vessel.

We begin our journey with a 6-day exploration of the Island of BALI. For many, Bali is the very definition of a tropical paradise : magnificent vistas, looming volcanoes, lush green forests and terraced rice fields tripping down hillsides. But Bali is so much more than this.

It’s the extraordinary richness of the Balinese culture that sets it apart from any other island in the world.  From the flower-petal offerings placed everywhere, to the processions of joyfully-garbed locals shutting down roads, to the elaborate  temple  ceremonies,  to  the  enchanting  traditional  dances, to the otherworldly gamelan music played island-wide, almost everything in Bali has spiritual meaning and leaves you with a lasting impression of reverence, peace and tranquility.

After 6 Days in Bali, it will be time for a “Beach Vacation.” So, on Day 7, we’ll take a 30-minute flight to the Island of LOMBOK,  where we’ll have 5 days to slow down, unwind, “chill out.”

Lombok is Bali’s neighbor to the east, and, unlike it’s superstar neighbour, it’s the island-of-choice for those seeking ‘relaxation and serenity.’ Blessed with white sandy beaches, spectacular tropical reefs, exquisite marine life, vivid sunsets, and wonderful beach resorts . . . Lombok offers everything you dreamed of when you planned your tropical holiday!

After 5 days of R&R on Lombok, we’ll take a short flight to the Island of FLORES on Day 12. There, we’ll check into a beach resort in Labuan Bajo (the Island capital) and watch the sun set over the infamous KOMODO ISLANDS just west of Flores.

Early on Day 13, we’ll head to the Labuan Bajo port and board IndoExcursions’ large and luxurious phinisi ship – a magnificent traditional Indonesian sailing vessel with “mile-high” sails.  With 8 travellers onboard, a private chef and a full staff, we’ll set sail for the Komodo Islands – a World Heritage Site and home to the famed Komodo Dragon, the world’s largest monitor lizard.

For 4 glorious days, we’ll sail the azure waters of the Komodo Islands – an area boasting the greatest marine biodiversity on earth. During our voyage, you may snorkel on pristine sandy white beaches in the hope of encountering dolphins, green turtles and giant mantarays; or explore the island coasts in search of Komodo Dragons; or, if you prefer, you may spend the entire 4 days relaxing on deck with a margarita in hand.  All this, whilst enjoying world-class meals and accommodations on a luxurious sailing vessel. What’s not to love?

On Day 16, upon returning from our 4-day cruise, we’ll spend a final night in Labuan Bajo, enjoying a sumptuous farewell dinner together before going our separate ways the following morning.

We hope you’ll join us for 17 days of friendship and conversation . . . and the adventure of a lifetime!

The Island of LOMBOK, Bali’s neighbor to the east, is synonymous with ‘relaxation,’ blessed with white sandy beaches, spectacular tropical reefs, exquisite marine life, vivid sunsets, wonderful beach resorts . . . everything you dreamed of for your tropical holiday!

This 12-day, Hosted Tour (limited to 8 participants) is designed for discerning travellers seeking a seamless and luxurious journey, filled with intellectual experiences and rich in insider experiences.

Our carefully-crafted tour includes the most outstanding accommodation partners, avoids the well-beaten path of traditional tour operators, and showcases a side of Bali and Lombok that you’re not likely to discover on your own.

Activity Delails

Join us for a 12-day, cultural exploration of 2 of Indonesia’s most exotic Islands : BALI and LOMBOK.

For many, BALI is the very definition of tropical paradise : magnificent vistas, looming volcanoes, lush green forests and terraced rice fields tripping down hillsides. But Bali is so much more than this.

It’s the extraordinary richness of the Balinese culture – it’s the “essence” of Bali – that sets it apart from any other island in the world.

Over 7 days, your native Bali tour guides will take you off the well-trodden path for a true “insider journey” across Bali. This Hosted Journey (limited to 8 travellers), is filled with unprecedented behind-the-scenes opportunities that reach far beyond the predictable stuff, offering unique access that you simply couldn’t plan on your own. You’ll journey to intricately carved temples rarely visited by tourists;  you’ll stop at villages where locals will prepare you meals while excited youngsters perform ritual dances . . .  you’ll experience “authentic Bali” and discover the true essence of the “Island of the Gods.”

After 7 Days of activity on Bali, it will be time for a “Beach Vacation.” So, on Day 8, you’ll take a 30-minute flight to the Island of LOMBOK, just a flying fish skip off the east coast of Bali.

When IndoExcursions Travellers arrive in LOMBOK after visiting Bali, we tell them, “Exhale and stretch out a little. You’re in Lombok now.” (For all its charms, Bali has an ‘intensity’ that simply doesn’t exist on Lombok.) Unlike it’s superstar neighbour, Lombok is synonymous with ‘relaxation.’

Lombok (together with its lesser 3 islands, known collectively as the Gilis) is blessed with white sandy beaches, spectacular tropical reefs, exquisite marine life, vivid sunsets, wonderful beach resorts . . . everything you dreamed of when you planned your tropical holiday!

In addition to its beach-fringed coast, Lombok’s lush forested interior is home to Indonesia’s second-highest volcano, Mount Rinjani, and, at the foothills of Rinjani are some of the most serene waterfalls in the archipelago.  It’s our habit to encourage IndoExcursions Travellers to take a (moderate) hike to the base of Rinjani to catch a glimpse of at least one of these exquisite waterfalls . . . but, if you decide to stay behind and chill out at the beach, we’ll understand.  After all, you’re in Lombok.

On Day 12, with your body tanned and your reading caught up, you should be good and ready for your flight back to Bali and on to your home-country.

We hope you’ll join us for this vacation of a lifetime!

Imagine snorkeling on pristine white beaches (and a pink one too), and exploring island coastlines in search of a few of the 2,500 Komodo Dragons that inhabit the Komodo Islands.

Each and every month, IndoExcursions’ luxurious vessel raises it sails to take 8 travellers on the voyage of a lifetime.  We hope you’ll join us.

Activity Details

East of Bali is the Indonesian Island of FLORES.  And just a stone’s throw off the western tip of Flores lay the KOMODO ISLANDS, a UNESCO-protected World Heritage Site and home to the famed Komodo Dragon, the world’s largest monitor lizard.

Whilst intrepid travellers and dragon chasers have been coming to the Komodo Islands since the 1980s, it wasn’t until 2011, when Komodo National Park was named as one of the NEW SEVEN WONDERS OF NATURE, that the islands caught the attention of the world at large.

Since that time, the port in Labuan Bajo (the Capital of Flores and gateway to the Komodo Islands) has filled with boats of every size and quality – many small and ramshackle, a few large and luxurious – as boat owners attempt to capitalise on the growing demand for boat tours to the Komodos.

The IndoExcursions vessel is one of those few in the “large and luxurious” category.  Each and every month, our magnificent traditional Indonesian sailing vessel leaves the Labuan Bajo harbour with 8 IndoExcursions travellers, a private chef, and a full onboard staff.

For 4 glorious days, we sail the azure waters of the Komodo Islands – an area boasting the greatest marine biodiversity on earth, 25 percent of the world’s coral reef, and 3,500 of the world’s 4,500 reef fish species. During our voyage, you may snorkel on pristine sandy white beaches in the hope of encountering dolphins, green turtles and giant mantarays; or explore the island coasts in search of Komodo Dragons; or, if you prefer, you may spend the entire 4 days relaxing in a lounge chair on deck with a margarita in hand.  All this, whilst enjoying world-class meals and accommodations on a truly luxurious sailing vessel. What’s not to love?

On Day 6, before departing on our voyage, we spend the afternoon exploring Labuan Bajo and the evening at our Labuan Bajo beach resort watching the sun set over the Komodo Islands in the distance. On Day 5, upon returning from our 4-day cruise, we spend a final night in Labuan Bajo, enjoying a sumptuous farewell dinner together before going our separate ways the following morning.

We hope you’ll join us for 6 days of friendship, conversation . . . and the adventure of a lifetime!
