7 Day Exploration of Kidepo and Murchison Falls

This safari tour is designed to take you to discover the wonders of nature in Uganda’s tourist destinations of Jinja, North eastern and Northern Uganda. This Safari is designed to enable you reach the source of the Nile River, visit Sipi Falls, conduct game viewing in Kidepo Valley National Park and Murchison Falls National Game Park. On return, it is intended that you conduct Rhino tracking at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary.

ITINERARY

OVERVIEW

Day 1: Arrival and travel to Jinja town

Upon arrival at Entebbe Airport, You will begin this memorable expedition whilst taking the Eastern route of Uganda with Jinja as your destination for this day. Your day’s first Safari activity will be visiting the Source of the Nile in Jinja. It is intended that you spot where the Nile waters start to flow out of Lake Victoria. This will be done while having a boat ride along the waters of the Nile River .Enroute to Jinja you will go through Mabira Forest-the largest natural forest in central Uganda. Overnight at Nile Village Lodge.

Day 2: Travel to Mbale and Hiking to Sipi Falls

After breakfast, proceed with your safari to Mbale to explore Mount Elgon and hikeSipi Falls.

You will enjoy the beauty and scenery of the flow of the falls. You will also sight fauna and different floral species including Elgonensis lobelia and dotted clusters of peculiar groundsels.

Day 3: Travel to Kidepo Valley National Park

The third day of this Safari will be spent traversing the vast plains and semi-arid savannah of North Eastern Uganda with a motive of reaching Kidepo Valley National Park. Observing that this is quite a long journey, you will reach the park in the evening and spend your night at Kidepo Savanna Lodge.

Kidepo Valley National Park is one of the wildest and most spectacular reserves in Africa with a landscape of small hills, rocky outcrops and inselbergs. The temperatures in Kidepo are usually high, and this will certainly give you a good taste of adventure! While in Kidepo you can get stunning panoramic views of the Narus River Valley and wildlife such as Elephants, herds of Buffaloes, Jackals, Jackson’s Hartebeest, and Klipspringer among others.

The park is renowned for its exceptional variety of birds of prey. While there it is likely that you can spot Ostriches, Kori Bustards, Pygmy Falcons, Verreaux’s Eagles, Egyptian Vultures, Abyssinian ground Hornbills among others.

Day 4: Game drive and social interaction with the Karamajong people

This day will start with a morning game drive to Kanangorok hot spring area. It is intended that you bisect the park such that you obtain more chances of encountering animals like the Hunting dog, Bat-eared Fox and other animals endemic to Kidepo National Park like the cheetah and the striped hyena.

After the game drive, you will have a cultural interaction with Karamajong people at Karenna and Kapedo. You will meet the local elders and have an opportunity to interact with them as they show you the kraals, the grinding stones and many more interesting items used by them.

Day 5: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park

You will travel from Kidepo Valley on this day and head southwards to Murchison Falls National Park.

Murchison Falls is Uganda’s largest national park and is a home to over 400 birds’ species. The park is also endowed with several attractions including mammal species with four members of the big five, the lion, the leopards, the elephants, and the Buffaloes.

Other species include bushbucks, Uganda kob, waterbucks, warthogs, giraffes, Jackson’s hartebeest, hyenas, hippos and crocodiles among other resident creatures. You will start the day in the morning and transfer through Gulu-Uganda’s biggest town in the North.

You will continue the drive through the flat scenic landscape with local villages while enjoying the Ugandan countryside. You will arrive at Murchison Falls National Game Park in the afternoon and check in at Para Safari  lodge.

Day 6: Game drive and Boat Cruise to the base of Murchison falls

You begin your exploration of the park with a game drive in the northern circuit of the park. There you will encounter beautiful rolling plains. While in these plains you may view Lions, Giraffes, Hartebeest, Buffalos, and Elephants, Bushbuck, Spotted hyenas, Wild cats, leopards as well as many of the other mammals of the park. For the birders, this area supports the Secretary Bird, Black Chested Snake Eagle, Tawny and Marshal Eagles Carmine and Swallow Tailed Bee-Eaters among others.

In the afternoon, you will go for a boat trip to the bottom of Murchison Falls where you will view the Nile as it thunders through a small 7-meter gap down to the delta. This experience is breath taking and should not to be missed! The banks of the Nile are home to many species. You may see huge Nile Crocodiles, Hippos and other wildlife that may come down to drink from this mighty river. You may see the pre-historic shoebill, saddle-billed stork and many other birds.

Day 7: Visit to the top of Murchison falls, visit Ziwa rhino sanctuary and transfer to Entebbe

The day will begin with a visit to the top of Murchison falls. While at the top you will as well experience the Nile as it is pushed through a small gap of rocks with a lot of force; the sight of the power of the rushing water is impressive. You will then drive out of the park to Masindi town for lunch en route and then continue to Ziwa Rhino sanctuary for an encounter of the white Rhinos. After this activity you will drive back to Kampala targeting your flight.

4 DAYS Nature Safari in the Wild of Queen Elizabeth National Game Park( Luxury )

It is not popular for its name or anything else, but for tourist attractions found therein, the scenery in the environs and the tour activities engaged in by people who visit this park. While on this safari, you will enjoy conducting game drives that may give you opportunity to see animals of this wild such as tree climbing lions, elephants, the Uganda Kob and buffalos.

The Safari will enable you do Chimp tracking in Kalinzu Forest and also avail you opportunity to have a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel where at, you will likely view water adapted animals as well as a variety of bird species. The crater lakes in the environs of the park and the sighting of the Rwenzori Mountains give you more reason to take on this Safari. Take up this opportunity.

Day 1: Travel to Queen Elizabeth National Game Park with an Intermediate Stopover at the Equator

Upon arrival and after being briefed by our Safari guide, you embark on travelling to Queen Elizabeth National Park. The park is located in the South Western part of Uganda and is close to mountain Rwenzori and rests in the floor of the Albertine Rift. The journey time is between 7 to 8 hours and therefore this day will mainly involve travelling.

However the route to the park crosses the imaginary line of the Equator at Kayabwe-Mpigi District. You will make a brief stopover at the equator where at you can take pictures for your memories and supplementation of your photo gallery/collection. At the same point, you will find a variety of crafts that represent much about Ugandan Culture, animals of Africa and the history of Uganda and Africa. You will enjoy much about how these crafts are made by the residents of this area.

Continue driving southwards and when you approach Mbarara, you will visit Birharwe Eclipse Monument. The story about the Eclipse dates back to the fights that the three contemporary kings were involved in. You will enjoy the story behind this monument because it’s really interesting. After this visit, you will then go Igongo cultural center for lunch as well as see crafts made by Ugandans.  Continue the drive to the park further observing and enjoying the natural and beautiful terrain, estates, plantations and escarpments of the western rift valley.

Your arrival to Mweya Safari lodge will be in the evening for your overnight stay.

Day 2: Chimpanzee tracking in Kalinzu forest and transfer to queen Elizabeth national Game Park.

This day is reserved to avail you with opportunity to conduct Chimpanzee tracking. The activity starts with briefing where instructions on how to track chimpanzees are passed on.

Kalinzu Forest is home to over 220 chimpanzees, over 414 species of trees, primates like Blue monkeys, Vervet monkeys, Black and white colobus monkeys, and a variety of bird species as well different animals.

The forest is only accessible on foot and the walk will provide you with the opportunity to also see a variety of other primates and animals as well as birds, and a variety of butterflies, and other insects. Chimpanzees are the closest relatives to humans sharing about 98.7% of their DNA composition with humans. They are sociable, intelligent as well as communicative and among their very interesting traits are their abilities to utilize tools like rocks for crushing nuts, empty pods for hollowing out water plus sticks for capturing termites from their holes. A successful track of the chimpanzees will give you beautiful lasting memories about Uganda.

After tracking chimps, you will be transferred back to Queen Elizabeth National Game Park and later on retire for the day at Mweya safari lodge.

Day 3: Game Drive through Queen Elizabeth National Park and a Boat cruise along Kazinga Channel

This day focuses on enabling you explore the wilderness of Queen Elizabeth National Park. It is intended to enable you get a feel of what Queen Elizabeth National Park contains. The game drive will take you through the park’s diverse ecosystem, which includes sprawling savanna, shady, humid forests, sparkling lakes and fertile wetlands. Being an ideal habitat for the big five, the ten primate species including chimpanzees and over 600 species of birds, we believe that you may get opportunity to spot Elephants, Buffalos, lions, Leopards, Warthogs, Hyenas, water bucks, Uganda Kob and many bird species including Ibis, Fish Eagles and vultures among others that live in this park.

The jagged Rwenzori Mountains and the dozens of enormous craters carved dramatically into rolling green hills will avail you moments of sighting wonders of nature.

On return from the game drive, you will have lunch and in the afternoon go for boat-cruise on the famous Kazinga channel. This is a natural link connecting Lake George with Lake Edward. On the cruise, you may be able to view great numbers of wildlife including Elephants, crocodiles, Hippos, Buffaloes and large numbers of birds like Fish Eagles, kingfishers, Egrets, Cormorants converging at the channel waters to enjoy a sip of the natural waters. You will then be driven back to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Transfer to Entebbe airport

Breakfast will be taken in the morning and then prepare for the drive back to Entebbe airport through Kasese where you will have a better view of the mountain of the moon-Rwenzori. This will be the end of this wonderful and memorable tour.

6 DAYS OF EXCLUSIVE ADVENTURE IN MURCHISON FALLS NATIONAL PARK AND WHITE WATER RAFTING ON RIVER NILE

Itinerary

Day 1: Pick from the hotel and travel to Murchison falls National Park

The day’s activities will basically be travelling from Entebbe to Murchison Falls Park. You start this day by driving North West of Uganda while taking Kampala- Gulu highway. Along the way, enjoy the beautiful scenic landscapes and varied vegetation ranging from thick bushes to savanna grasslands.

The drive to Murchison falls National Park normally takes 4-5 hours. Upon arrival, check in at your booked hotel and enjoy lunch.

In the afternoon, enjoy the boat cruise. During the boat cruise on the Victoria Nile which is the high spot of any Murchison Falls Safari, lots of animals can be spotted at a close encounter. On this amazing experience, there’re higher chances of spotting lots of Hippos, Nile crocodiles, Elephants, Buffaloes, and many other animals that come to drink water, refresh and cool themselves off the scorching sun while other animals are seen grazing on the fresh grass along the river banks.

Day 2: Morning and Evening game drives

Early morning, set off for a game drive in search of the big five and other animals which might include, Lions, Elephants, Hippos, Kobs, Giraffe and on a lucky day Hyenas can be spotted as well as Leopards.

After the game drive, return to the lodge for lunch and relax until in the evening where you will embark on another game drive for more exploration about the wild game animals. Overnight at Pakuba safari lodge.

Day 3: Chimpanzee tracking in Budongo Forest

This day’s activity commences with briefing from the specialized site ranger about the rules and regulations guiding this exercise. After briefing, enter the forest in search of man’s closest relatives-chimpanzees.

When chimpanzees are located, a maximum of one hour is allowed to stay in their vicinity and then after walk out of the forest.

Upon completion of this memorable expedition, drive back to the lodge for lunch and relaxation. Overnight at Pakuba safari lodge.

Day 4: Travel to Jinja and visit the source of the Nile River                  

On this day immediately after breakfast, check out of the lodge and embark on the journey to Jinja town for yet another thrilling expedition. Have enroute lunch from Kampala and then after proceed with the journey to Jinja town. On arrival in Jinja, visit the source of the Nile River and enjoy the cool breeze of the lake and the environs of the place. Overnight at Nile Village Hotel

Day 5: White Water Rafting –Half day

Enjoy this day’s activity that will create a long lasting memorable experience. This adventurous activity is carried out on the might Nile River. After this adventure, return to your hotel for relaxing. Optionally, you can choose to tour around the town. Overnight at Nile Village Hotel

Day 6: Travel to Entebbe for departure flight

After breakfast, check out of the hotel and drive to Entebbe through Kampala. While in Kampala, visit the crafts village on Buganda Road for a few souvenirs.

Day 2: Rhino tracking at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary and travel to Murchison Falls National Park

After breakfast, embark on this memorable safari by driving North West of Uganda along the Kampala Gulu High way to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary and later to Murchison Falls National Park.

Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary is endowed with over 22 Re-introduced White Rhinos. The Rhino tracking exercise begins with briefing from a specialized site ranger and thereafter you proceed to track the Rhinos. This activity normally takes between 30minutes to an hour depending on where the Rhinos are located within the sanctuary. Your time at the sanctuary will offer you an opportunity to learn more about the White Rhinos and will give you memorable experience about Rhinos in Africa.

On return from the tracking activity, have your lunch and proceed to Murchison Falls National Park. Murchison Falls National Park is greatly endowed with animals, birds, the Nile River and savanna grassland that will certainly give you beautiful lasting memories about wild life. This park is Uganda’s largest and the oldest national park. It’s a home to 76 species of mammals and 451 birds. Like earlier stated, it is bisected by river Nile, has the mighty breath taking Murchison falls and spectacular views of water. It is a park that you will always wish to explore. Day 3: Game drive and boat cruise in Murchison Falls National Park.

This third day of your Safari gets you to encounter with the natural establishment of Murchison Falls National Park. You begin your exploration of the park with a game drive in the northern circuit of the park and along the Albert Delta sighting Lions, Giraffes, Hartebeest, Buffalos, Elephants, Bushbuck, Hippopotamus, Spotted hyenas, Wild cats, leopard as well as many of the other mammals of the park. For the bird lovers, the Albert Delta supports the Secretary Bird, Black-chested Snake Eagle, Tawny and Martial Eagles Carmine and Swallow-tailed Bee-Eaters among others.

In the afternoon, go for a boat trip to the bottom of Murchison Falls where the Nile thunders through a small 7-meter gap down to the delta. This experience is breath taking and should not to be missed! The banks of the Nile are home to many species. Day 4: Top of Murchison falls, transfer to Kibale forest National Park

This day will start with an early morning breakfast you will drive south via Hoima to Fort Portal through verdant countryside passing through traditional homesteads, farms and Tea Estates. You will have a stopover for lunch en-route and arrive at your lodge in the late afternoon. Check in at your isunga lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 5: Chimps tracking in Kibale Forest National Park and transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Game Park

This day’s activity aims at giving you an opportunity to physically observe chimps and get practical understanding of lives and behaviors of chimps. The activity intends to give you more insight discovery about chimpanzees.

Kibale Forest National park is located in south western part of Uganda. Kibale forest national Park has tracts of tropical forests with patches of grassland and swamps. It is a home to 13 species of primates and famous for chimpanzee tracking. It’s also a good area for sighting different bird species.

The day’s activities begin by driving to the briefing point to be briefed about the chimpanzee tracking. After briefing, you will head into the forest for Chimps tracking.

While tracking chimps, you are likely to discover how chimpanzees use a variety of sophiscated tools to construct sleeping nests, no wonder they are Humans’ closest living relatives. Other primates you will likely encounter are the rare I’Hoest’s monkey ,the black and white Colobus, Blue monkey, Grey cheeked mangabey, Red tailed monkey, Olive baboon to mention but a few.

On return from the tracking, check out and drive to Queen Elizabeth national Game Park. This Park has several beautiful crater lakes that wind through the rolling hills, the Kazinga channel with an awesome view of both land and water adapted animals such as hippos lined up at the shores. With a vegetation cover of grassland, acacia woodland, tropical rainforest and a variety of wetlands this park is home to different animal species and birds. By exploring this park the next day, you may witness all this natural endowment. Overnight at Pumba safari cottages

Day 6: Game drive and boat cruise at Queen Elizabeth National park

After breakfast, you will start this day’s activities by having a game drive in Queen Elizabeth national Game Park. This activity focuses on giving you personal encounter with the wilderness of Queen Elizabeth National Game Park. You may see the amazing big game hippos, elephants and buffalos. This tour will enable you understand how these animals thrive in the grasslands and shorelines. You may also encounter warthog, waterbuck, Uganda kob, topis and monkeys as they play about in the trees. Bold baboons will not be hesitant to steal your snacks if you do not close the car windows.

Queen Elizabeth has the environs of the Kazinga Channel, Lake Edward and Lake George. It is intended that upon completion of your game drive in the park, you undertake an afternoon boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel- a natural channel between Lake Edward and Lake George. It is intended to give you desirable relaxation and we believe it will definitely be one of the highlights of your safari because of the abundant bird life and animals that are sighted. Return to your lodge for an overnight stay.

Day7: Travel to Bwindi impenetrable Forest National park

You will have an early breakfast and drive through the Ishasha sector where you are likely to see tree climbing lions resting on trees waiting to pounce on the Uganda Kobs and other prey. Continue to Bwindi impenetrable forest park.

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest Park is a home for an estimated 400 mountain gorillas which is half of the world’s population. It is also a home for more than 120 mammals and a variety of different bird species, and more importantly about the birds, is the existence of the 23 Albertine Rift Endemics.

On arrival, check in and relax at your lodge. Later, go for the village walk around and interact with the local people giving you an insight about their lives. Overnight at Buhoma Community camp

Day 8: Gorilla trekking at Bwindi impenetrable forest national park

This day will begin by having breakfast and then assemble at the briefing point for guidelines about this amazing activity. After briefing by the specialized site ranger, you will head to the forest. The trekking duration is determined by the position where the gorillas spent the night and their feeding range.

Once the gorillas are found, you will enjoy an hour with them. You will enjoy this memorable experience as you stand just few meters from the gorillas watching them feed; play and even watching them bond with their young ones. You will be amazed at how these creatures have so much resemblance with human beings. This is an amazing once in a lifetime experience which should not be missed. After this activity, you will relax at your lodge for next day’s adventure.

Day 9: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park and evening game drive

You will depart from Bwindi early in the morning after breakfast and head to Lake Mburo National Game Park for yet another marvelous encounter with the wild of Uganda.

Lake Mburo National Park is a habitat to more than 60 species of mammals including the Impala which only lives in this park in Uganda, the Burchell’s zebras, Buffalos, Warthogs, Hippos, Leopard, Topis, Elands and Hyenas among others. It is also home to 350 bird species which include the rare Shoe bill stork, African fin foot, Saddle-billed stork among others.

Along the way to Lake Mburo national Game Park, you will enjoy Uganda’s country side which is abundantly blessed with eye catching sceneries such as the hills, vast banana plantations and herds of the indigenous Ankole cow. Surely, your journey will be filled with moments of memorable exposure to nature.

On arrival at Lake Mburo national Game Park, you will go for an afternoon boat cruise on Lake Mburo. This lake is rich with a diversity of animal and plant species, which can only be viewed clearly while on a boat trip. These include crocodiles, Hippopotami and birds like, African Finfoot which is a must see, Pelicans, Black crake, Heron, Cormorant and Fish eagle. You may also see the rare Shoebill stork.

This park provides the best chance of viewing a deep red sunset silhouetting the thorny acacia shrub along the extensive marshy area. This amazing natural occurrence is worthy being experienced. Overnight  stay at Rwakobo rock lodge.

Day 10: Morning Game drive, travel to Kampala

You will begin this day with an early morning game drive within the park where you are likely to see Zebras in large numbers, Buffalos, Hippos, Topis, Elands, Impalas and many other savannah animals. After the game drive, check out from the lodge and drive to Kampala. Along the way, stop at the equator for enroute lunch and photo session.

3 Day Luxury Gorilla trekking in Uganda

Day 1: Arrival at the Airport and fly to Kihihi Airstrip, transfer to Bwindi

On arrival at the Entebbe International airport, you will meet our company staff who will gladly welcome you and assist you board Aero link plane and fly to Kihihi airfield. Upon arrival, our company guide /driver will be waiting to receive you at the airstrip.

Drive 40km to Buhoma and along the way; you will have stop overs for photo shoots as well as enjoying the beautiful environs of Uganda. While at Buhoma, check-in at your lodge, relax or browse through the craft shops to see or buy Ugandan crafted items.

Overnight at Mahogany springs

Day 2 Gorilla trekking and Nature walk at Bwindi impenetrable national park.

The day will start with an early morning breakfast and then report to the Park headquarters for briefing about the Gorilla trekking activity. After the briefing, you will set off into the forest along with a site ranger for an unforgettable experience.

You will trek through thick creepers and undergrowth to find the Gorillas and once they are located, you will spend one hour with them coming face-to-face with them. This is a truly humbling and exciting experience. After the trekking activity, the driver will take you back to the lodge and relax with beautiful sights of this mighty forest.

Overnight at Mahogany Springs

Day 3 Fly to Entebbe

This day will begin with having breakfast while enjoying the last sights of this amazing place. Later our driver will drive you to Kihihi Airstrip to catch your flight to Entebbe. On arrival at Entebbe, our other driver will be ready to pick you and drive you to Entebbe international Airport.
