We offer two awe-inspiring trips with experienced tour guides:
Sira Mountain Trail – Longer Tour (11 days)
The Sira Mountain trail is a full circuit of the incredible Sira Mountains, climbing through virgin rainforest to the highest peaks of around 2000 meters above sea level. During our adventure, we’ll make every effort to find and observe the secretive Horned Curassow – a distinct Peruvian subspecies worthy of recognition – and the striking yet only recently discovered Barbet.
Sira Tanager Trail – Shorter Tour (8 days)
The Sira Tanager Trail is a shorter tour concentrating on finding the endemic Sira Tanager bird. First discovered in 1969, these beautiful and vibrantly colored birds only exist in the Sira range! Other wildlife, some rare and others not, may also be encountered. The jungle can be unpredictable! You should not count on finding all those mentioned, however we will make every effort and often succeed – much to the delight of biology researches we work with!
THE TOUR (Shorter)

Day 8: Good bye day

The long tour is 11 days which effectively gives you 3 more full days in the mountains. We recommend the latter since it will give more chance to see all the specialties of Sira and increase the chance of finding the Curassow as well as the newly discovered Barbet.
Best season and drier mid-April to mid-December although, birding can be very good also in the rainy season between showers.
Whilst these hikes are not overly strenuous, you’ll need to be in reasonably good shape as it will be hot as we walk every day. Please also bring the necessary (and well-researched) equipment, such as boots, flash light, knife, bathing suit, hat, sunglasses, sun blocker cream, tent, sleeping bag, waterproof coats and trousers, hiking socks, insect repellent and water filter!
Prices for the 2 above options include:
-3 meals a day: They are mostly served in the field to maximize birding time.
-Accommodation, 2 nights in local hostel.
-Transportation from Puerto Inca to beginning of the mountain and vice versa
-Transportation from/to Pucallpa airport/bus station.
-Experienced guide who have worked with different international expeditions.
– Both tours include porters to transport our gear, enabling us to focus exclusively on looking for birds and increasing the chances of once-in-a-lifetime experiences.
Prices for the 2 above options exclude:
-Tent – Can be rented at the village
-Sleeping bag
