Chilean Bike & Wine Adventure

Trip Overview

With the Andes Mountains as a backdrop, one of South America’s undeniable attractions is its spectacular landscape that produces some of the world’s best wines. This ten-day tour will expose you to the best of Chile’s wine country on two wheels! Our custom-designed tour includes 270 miles of moderate biking on paved and unpaved roads through the best of Chile’s wine country. Pedal at your own pace down country back roads, past farms and rolling hills and even take a spin right through rows of vines laden with grapes. You will experience the highlights of Chile’s capital, Santiago, and the breathtaking coast and Pacific Ocean.

Day 1 – Arrival Santiago, Chile

  • Private transport from airport to Santiago hotel
  • Half-day private, guided city tour
  • Welcome reception with biking guide to review program
  • Dinner

Day 2 – Casablanca Valley (Total Miles: 38)

  • Begin biking route (1 hour outside of Santiago)
  • Wine tastings at two top wineries in the Casablanca Wine Valley
  • Overnight in boutique wine lodge
  • Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

 

Day 3 – San Antonio Valley (Total Miles: 19)

  • Pedal through quaint villages and rolling foothills of the coastal mountain range
  • Ride through one of Chile’s top wineries, visiting it’s historic facilities
  • Tour and wine tasting
  • Overnight in boutique wine lodge
  • Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 4 – Colchagua Valley (Total Miles: 60)

  • Drive to exclusive beach resort of Santo Domingo to begin biking
  • Ride over rolling countryside of the coastal plains through the region commonly known in Chile as the “Ruta de Fruit” (Fruit Highway)
  • Overnight in historic residence, now a boutique hotel, in the middle of lush wine country
  • Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 5 – Rest Day (Total Miles: 0)

  • Relax and enjoy the lovely surroundings of the hotel.
  • Breakfast

 

Day 6 – Toward the Coast and Pichilemu (Total Miles: 33 + optional 15)

  • Pedal toward the Pacific coast and town of Pichilemu, Chile’s most popular surfing beach
  • Afternoon free to explore the coastline and beaches
  • Ride out to Punta Lobos to watch the surfers catch one of the longest left breaking waves in South America
  • Option to rent surfboard and wet suit if interested
  • Optional extension (15 miles) – Passing Punta Lobos continue south on the coast to small artisan village of Cahuil
  • Overnight in historic residence, now a boutique hotel, in the middle of lush wine country
  • Breakfast, Lunch

 

Day 7 – Colchagua Valley from Marchihue to Santa Cruz (Total Miles: 45)

  • Ride east towards the Andes Mountains along back roads of the Colchagua Valley
  • Winery tour and tasting
  • Optional afternoon visit to restored Hacienda El Huique museum, a colonial mansion where two Chilean presidents were born
  • Overnight in Santa Cruz
  • Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

 

Day 8 – Eastern Colchagua Valley (Total Miles: 45)

  • Continue your ride through the Colchagua Valley, riding east through the town of Nancagua
  • Arrive to Hacienda Los Lingues, a traditional colonial hacienda for refreshments
  • Drive 1 hour north into Maipo Valle
  • Overnight at an elegant mansion on the grounds of a historic winery
  • Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

 

Day 9 – Maipo Valley (Total Miles: 30)

  • Final day of riding, through the Maipo Valley
  • Pedal through town of Pirque and the Alto Maipo region, renowned for its production of red wines
  • Lunch in the private home of winery owners Madeline Corcoran and Javier Rodriguez at Corcoran Gallery Winery, a “garden” winery
  • Overnight at elegant mansion on the grounds of a historic winery
  • Breakfast, Lunch

 

Day 10 – Maipo Valley (Total Miles: 0)

  • Relaxed morning
  • Private transfer in the afternoon to Santiago airport for departing flight
  • Breakfast
