Part of this tour is a walking tour that takes in the historic area of Grey Street (now renamed Yusuf Dadoo) which is associated with the history of the Indian population in South Africa. Durban has the largest population of Indians outside of India. The area is rich in architectural design as most of the buildings were constructed in the 1920’s and 30’s and are influenced by the art deco movement.

The tour incorporates the Old Station/Tourism Junction, the Indian War Memorial (Red Square), the Juma Masjid Mosque, Madressa Arcade, Emmanuel Cathedral, Victoria Street Market, the Hazrath Badshe Peer Market and the grain stores of Dr Goonam Street.

We then move on to the busy Warwick Junction precinct which houses a bustling market area. Here you will visit the Bovine Head Cookers, the Early Morning Market, Herbalists’ Bridge, Music Market, Clay Market and the Hazrath Badshaw Peer Market/Brook Street Market as well as the Victoria Street Market and the Brook Street Bead Sellers Market. The streets and pavements are lined with traders of all kinds and the Berea Station offers more shops.

A short drive finds us back at the Wilsons wharf to you enjoy cruise and view Durban from the sea and thereafter to Moses Mabhida stadium to view Durban from the sky (optional)

Close of Tour:

You will be able to relax and enjoy fine traditional African cuisine as well as SAB brew at the Wharf or stadium. They also offer some of the best South African wines. African crafts, beadwork and baskets will be available for purchase at the markets.

Our team has a combined experience of 20 years in the Hospitality, Tourism & Travel industry. We are able to communicate in different international and local languages ie: German, Greek, and Portuguese, French, Swahili and all eleven South African official languages.

Tipping:

If you are happy with the services provided by your local guides and drivers a tip – though not compulsory – is appropriate. While it may not be customary to you, it is of great significance to the people who will take care of you during your travels, inspires excellent service, and is an entrenched feature of the tourism industry across many tourism destinations. Please consider this when budgeting for your extra expenses on this tour
