Everest Base Camp
Written By Admin
This is one of the most spectacular treks in the Himalayas, along routes lined and carved out by beautiful, multi-hued prayer flags, prayer wheels and intricately carved Mani stones. It is the same route along which Tenzing Norgay and Edmund Hillary headed to the summit of Everest in 1953. It is one of the more popular of the Himalayan treks.
Not only is Everest Base exceptionally close the world’s highest mountain (8,848m) but it is also home to the wonderful friendly Sherpa people, picturesque villages, and variety of cultures, traditions, colourful festivals and monasteries. One of the more accessible monasteries on the route is Tengboche monastery at an altitude of 3,867m. It is surrounded by fir trees and rhododendrons.
The route will take you along the Dhud Khosi, meaning river of milk, through many villages and over countless suspension bridges. You will be surrounded by deep valleys, incredible views of the Himalayas, laughing children and endless streams of yaks.
