HALLOWED FOOTSTEPS
Written By Admin
Chilli eating contests, piglet catching competitions, wrestling, tribal music, war dances, traditional handicrafts, rock bands, literary fests and beauty contests. Do you know which festival in India has this versatility in celebrations? It is the Hornbill Festival.
This 11 nights tour starts in Guwahati to take you to Kohima through Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh and Kaziranga National Park in Assam .Colors change with every curve in the mountains and so does the scenery. bright yellow mustard fields merge with some brilliant orchids that suddenly morph into dense forests with rivers gliding past them to snow clad mountains and conifers kissed by snow flakes to frozen lakes to a valley of clouds that wrapped mountains… That’s the road to Tawang.
The best way to see rhinos or any other animals in Kaziranga National park is on an elephant. Elephants and Rhinos seem to live a harmonic life in the park, and they tend to get as close as a few feet of each other. So close – if you ever happen to fall from the pachyderm’s back, don’t be surprised if you land on the rhino’s back!
And in the Hornbill Festival, if the mornings were rife with splashes of color, exciting head gear and energetic dances, sundown brings the city of Kohima alive with the night bazaar, carnival and the fabulous rock shows. And go easy on Zutho, it’s the cold rice beer that you will find everywhere there!!!!
