THIS IS A NARRATIVE TOUR
Join in for a fun tour that is also a great historical experience.
You will be greeted by your friendly guide at the cruise center where you will board your air condition bus, after a short drive, you will arrive at the John Glen commemorative capsule for a quick photo opportunity and learn about the historic Splash down just off the coast of Grand Turk. you will continue your tour, driving past the St Thomas Parish Church, you will then stop at the operational historical lighthouse where you will learn about the Pirates history on Grand Turk.
You will continue towards town and will enjoy a narrated drive along historic Duke Street, as well as a visit to the beautiful St Mary’s Pro Cathedral built in 1899 located on front street.
Front is street lined with historic 18th and 19th century landmarks reflecting the Bermudian style architecture, and is the center of the Turks and Caicos Islands small Capital.
You will then visit the Turks and Caicos National Museum, here you will see exhibit and hear the story of the molasses reef wreck, the oldest European shipwreck discovered in the Western Hemisphere (dated around 1505). You will then make a stop at the salt house, (now closed) a tribute to Grand Turk salt raking past and then return to the cruise center.
Participants should wear comfortable shoes, sensible footwear, sunscreen, sun-glasses and carry a camera.
There are easy but considerable walking downtown.
This tour is wheelchair accessible in certain areas.
This tour is 2.5 hours, and the time at individual stops are determined by the tour guide and driver.
