Written By Ernesto Saba
Machu Picchu is the most popular tourist destination of Perú and one of the wonders of ancient world.
Early in the morning we will pick up you from your hotel to move to the train station where we will take the wagon to go towards Aguas Calientes. On arrival we will be waiting for the guide to take the bus to take us to the citadel of Machu Picchu.
The guide will explain the historical significance and importance of the citadel in the Inca Empire. After about 2.5hrs of guided, you will have some free time to wander. Machu Picchu is the best known of the Inca ruins, as recognized worldwide, however, is not mentioned in any of the writings of the Spanish conquistadors. It is believed to be built around the middle of the 15th century and was “rediscovered” by American historian Hiram Bingham in 1911. The guided tour of this fascinating place is an unforgettable experience. Visit the Plaza de Armas, the Royal Quarters, and the Temple of the Three Windows, the Circular Towers, the Sacred Solar Clock and cemeteries.
After the free time, you can take the bus back to the town of Aguas Calientes for a lunch in the afternoon or a swim in the hot springs (not included). According to the train departure time, it is recommended to be in the train station 30 minutes before departure.
