MINI Auckland Coast & Country tour
Written By Admin
With over 10 years hosting International visitors, we have designed this “Mini” tour especially to cater to the rigid timeframe often associated with being a Cruise Boat passenger when they take a tour...(but of course, you don’t have to be off a Cruise Boat to enjoy this trip!). Tourists keep informing us that they are finding most other tours have them travelling great distances so the resulting consequence is that they end up having very little available time to actually do anything meaningful!
On our tours, you are never anymore than 40 minutes from Downtown Auckland…which means you’ll get MORE time out of the bus “doing” when you take a tour with us!
Pick-up (at 11.30am) is close-by your boat (at the downtown i-SITE, or at Sky City if you are mid-town). From here, it’s just a short hop to Kumeu, New Zealand’s historic wine-producing area, where you can do wine-tasting (at an Award-winning winery).
From there, you continue to travel further west…to Muriwai Beach and the gannet colony.
Although many tours visit this region, we pride ourselves as the tour that lives there, so by taking a tour with us you are assured the “real McCoy”. Our family were some of the early pioneers to this Muriwai region, settling to farm here in 1922, so the history and the stories have come by first-hand.
On our tours you also go to somewhere UNIQUE as you visit our own *private* sheep farm and historic Homestead. You will be welcomed (in Maori) into our ‘Motutara Homestead’, to see a real kiwi home and see photos of times gone by.
You indulge in our “famous” Epicurean Tasting Platter, with sheep’s milk cheeses, our homemade preserves, and New Zealand’s national dessert; Pavlova … [please note: WE are Food Handling Certified].
On our farm there’s sheep to feed and touch, as well as other animals and birds, and you’ll tour a “real” working woolshed to learn all about New Zealand’s wool production. Do note that the Coast to Coast Tours® sheep farm is not a purpose-built “tourist attraction” (performing shows), nor is it “open” to the general Public. It is, however, the only owner-owned working sheep farm within 40 minutes of downtown that you have access to as part of a tour.
We only operate locally, so our tours maintain their Sustainability, and our company is also the only Auckland tour company that has their own Carbon Credit Reserves on their own farm. We plant a tree for every tour we do, and our guests become joint-custodians of the tree-of-the-day, helping make this tour Carbon Neutral.
Just 7 minutes after leaving our farm, you’ll continue right to the very edge of Auckland’s west coast, where only the Tasman sea separates you from Australia! View the spectacular stretch of black iron-sands that make up this 30 mile long coastline, and walk on down onto the beach if you so wish. Muriwai Beach is also the home of the takapu (gannet colony), and is a world-famous attraction. We take you out along a (gentle) walk to viewing decks where you feel as though you can almost touch these birds as they fly overhead.
Your return to the city is guaranteed to be 1 hour before your Cruise Boat sail-time. (or 4pm)
Large groups (max 24) catered for, as well as Private luxury customers.
