Oxford tour to Bath and Castle Combe
Written By Admin
Join us on a journey through the picturesque southern Cotswold’s from Oxford to Regency Bath and the ancient Roman baths of Aquae Sulis
Minerva. Leaving the city of dreaming spires we head south west to the small town of Bibury in the heart of the beautiful Cotswold hills, be charmed by these exqisite stone cottages with roses round the door and sweet smelling honeysuckle, the epitomy of the English rural countryside. We travel on past sleepy towns and villages and on through the ancient Roman townships of Tetbury and Cirencester. Reaching Bath we take a driven tour of the town and its amazing architecture before parking up to walk the short distance into the city centre where you can visit the Old Roman Bath house or the magnificent Abbey rebuilt in the late 15th century but originally a Saxon cathedral where the first English king was crowned. Leaving Bath we climb back through the glorious Cotswold’s pausing in the tiny village of Castle Combe, said by some to be the most beautiful of all English villages, before commencing our journey back to Oxford. We will avoid busy major roads at all times possible, to allow you to savour the English countryside. www.oxfordtraveltours.co.uk
