Written By Admin
TRIP HIGHLIGHTS: – Sikkim the tiny Himalayan state is a wonderland by all accounts. Overlooked by Mt. Kanchenjunga, the world’s third highest peak, Sikkim is attractive equally for the traveler, the adventure sports enthusiast and those interested in Buddhism and Tibetology.
Sikkim offers several treks that lead through pine forests, through picturesque valleys, monasteries and to mountain lakes. It is also the base for mountaineering expeditions and the rivers Teesta and Rangeet offer excellent river rafting. A number of good hotels and lodging houses exist in Gangtok. From Darjeeling hills where tea plantations stretch as far as the eye can see, to Sikkim, an ancient Himalayan kingdom of Tibetan culture, this trek offers breath-taking views of the Himalayan range from Cho Oyo to Kanchenjunga. The Singalila range is one of the rare spots on earth where the view embraces five summits rising above 8000m, amongst them Everest, Makalu and Lhotse.
DARJEELING- It is famously known as the “Queen of the Hills” and is one of the most beautiful hill stations of India. The cool climate of Darjeeling provides a delightfully different experience from most other parts of India. In 1835, Darjeeling was given to the East India Company by the King of Sikkim. The real fun in coming to Darjeeling is on the toy train. It takes six to seven hours to cover a distance of 82 kms and the slow speed gives you enough time to watch and appreciate the beauty which nature has provided it. This train passes through the Forests, waterfalls, over deep valleys and through the mountains and tunnels. Darjeeling has plenty of tourist spots in and around the city. Tiger hills is the highest point in the area which provides the most exotic view of the Kanchenjunga peaks.
