Day 1 – Delhi
Upon arrival into Delhi you will be welcomed by the Mystical India Travel representative and transferred to your hotel for check-in with the remainder of the day/evening at your leisure.
Day 2 – Delhi
After breakfast we will depart for a full day sightseeing tour of Delhi, starting with Old Delhi where you will visit Red Fort, the Jama Masjid. In the afternoon some of the site you will visit will include, India gate, Parliament house, the Secretariat building and the Presidential house.
Day 3 – Mandawa
After breakfast this morning you will proceed toward the Shekhawati region to the Fort town of Mandawa. This town and the nearby areas of Shekhawati region are famous for their beautiful painted Havelis (mansions) as Mandawa is referred to as the “open art gallery”. The mansions were constructed by wealthy merchants of the region in the 18th and 19th centuries. Overnight in hotel and breakfast included.
Day 4 – Bikaner
After breakfast this morning you will continue your drive through the Shekhawati region to Bikaner. In the afternoon you will be taken on a half day city tour of the Junagarh Fort, built by Raja Rai Singh, the 6th ruler of Bikaner. Following this you will have the option of visiting Deshnok Temple (a temple overrun by rats) or if this is not of your taste then we will continue with a comprehensive tour of the other temples in town before returning to the hotel this evening. Overnight at hotel and breakfast included.
Day 5 – Jaisalmer
After breakfast this morning we will drive down to Jaisalmer, our drive will take us through the Rajasthani Thar desert, also known as “The Great Indian Desert”. Upon arrival in Jaisalmer, one of the jewels in India’s crown. Exquisite wood and sandstone buildings dot the town and within Jaisalmer Fort are homes, hotels and shops hidden in ancient lane ways. Overnight at hotel and breakfast included.
Day 6 – Jaisalmer
After breakfast this morning we begin our tour by visiting the Jaisalmer Fort – The oldest living Fort in the world built by the Bhati Rajput ruler Rawal Jaisal and this afternoon we will see some astonishing Havelis (Mansions) and proceed to the SAM or KHURI SAND DUNES for a Camel safari & visit of a typical Rajasthani Desert Village. This evening you will have the opportunity to view the sunset from the dunes, as the sky is set on fire. Return to the village for dinner and local entertainment. Overnight at the hotel breakfast and dinner included.
Day 7 – Jodhpur
After breakfast this morning we drive to Jodhpur. Upon arrival this afternoon we will begin our sightseeing tour of Jodhpur by visiting the Mehrangarh Fort, the origin of the name remains a mystery as this staggering structure stands over 400 feet above the city’s skyline. Return to the hotel and the remainder of the day at your leisure. Overnight at the hotel and breakfast included.
Day 8 – Ranakpur
After breakfast we depart for Ranakpur today and upon arrival our first visit will be to the Ranakpur Temple, a famous Jain Temples which is dedicated to the first Jain Tirthankar (enlightened human) of our time cycle. Next we will take a safari through the Ranakpur Valley. Overnight at hotel breakfast included.
Day 9 – Udaipur
After breakfast we depart for Udaipur today and enroute we will stop to visit the Kumbhalgarh Fort, which was a stronghold of the kingdom of Mewar built by Maharana Kumbha in 1453. Visit the palace and see the beautiful mural paintings in the Zenana Mahal (ladies quarters). The view from the parapet wall is breath taking and this is where the soldiers used to be stationed to view the advent of the enemies. The fort has 7 gates through which we need to enter to gain access to the palaces. See the temple where Maharana Kumbha was treacherously killed by his own kith and kin during his prayer to win the seat of Mewar. Evening at leisure overnight at your hotel and breakfast included.
Day 10 – Udaipur
After breakfast we begin our day with a visit the City Palace the richest palace museum in the State of Rajasthan. And later we will see the Sahelion ki Bari where Maharana Sangram Singh built this garden complex with fountains and lakes for his beautiful daughter. In the evening we take a lake cruise on the placid waters of Lake Pichola by sunset and visit the Island palace of Jagmandir where according to legends the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan lived and got inspired to build the Taj Mahal later. The remainder of the evening is at your leisure. Overnight at the hotel and breakfast included.
Day 11 – Pushkar
This morning after breakfast we will drive to Pushkar, which is the location of the only temple dedicated to Lord Brahma (the Creator) and his wife Saraswati (the goddess of learning and music. After this we will be visiting the local bazaars. Pushkar is also world famous for its cattle fair, which is held each year in the month of October/November. Overnight at your hotel and breakfast is included.
Day 12 – Jaipur
After breakfast we continue our journey towards Jaipur and upon arrival we will check into hotel, freshen up, have lunch and then we will set off for to visit the Pink city beginning with a tour of Jantar Mantar built in 1727 by Sawai Maharaja Jai Singh II who was a mathematician, an astronomer an astrologer and a great musician of his era. He built five observatories throughout India – Jaipur, Ujjain, Varanasi, Mathura and Delhi but only the one at Jaipur is functional. Then visit the City Palace of the Maharaja of Jaipur with a fabulous collection of robes and saris in cotton and silk with gold latticed work. Evening at leisure. Overnight at the hotel and breakfast included.
Day 13 – Jaipur
This morning after breakfast we begin a full day’s program beginning with an elephant ride up to Amber Fort; upon your return after lunch the remainder of the day is at your leisure to explore Jaipur at your own pace. Overnight at the hotel and breakfast included.
Day 14 – Agra
After breakfast this morning our journey will lead us to Agra via Emperor Akbar’s deserted city of Fatehpur Sikri, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and an almost perfectly preserved 4oo year old Mughal capital which was the quintessential Mughal city that was the capital of their empire in the 16th and 17th centuries. Upon arrival in Agra you will have a city tour which will include a visit to Red fort, which was built by Emperor Akbar in 1565. Next is the highlight of the day – The Taj Mahal, which was constructed by Shah Jahan in memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal. Construction of the Taj began in 1631 and was not completed until 1653. The remainder of the evening is at your leisure. Overnight at the hotel and breakfast included.
Day 15 – Orchha
This morning after breakfast we make our way to Orchha, situated on the banks of the Betwa River, Orchha has changed little over the centuries. Originally a hunting area, it became the centre and capital of the Bundelas. Upon arrival we will first visit the Fort of Orchha, built by Rudra Pratap Singh, who became the first King of Orchha and died while trying to save a cow from a lion. Nest we will visit some of the cenotaphs within the vicinity of the fort and the Betwa river. Elsewhere about the town there is an unusual variety of temples and tombs, including the Chaturbhuj temple, which is built on a vast platform of stone. The remainder of the evening is at your leisure, overnight at the hotel and breakfast included.
Day 16 – Khajuraho
We leave Orchha this morning after breakfast and head towards Khajuraho, enroute we travel through the rural areas of Madhya Pradesh to the remote town of Khajuraho which is a famous and popular tourist destination as it houses the largest group of medieval Hindu and Jain temples, famous for their erotic sculpture. Overnight at your hotel and breakfast is included.
Day 17 – Varanasi
This morning after breakfast we continue our sightseeing of the temples built during the 9th to the 11th centuries by the powerful dynasty of Chandela Rajputs. The temples with their erotic sculptures are a feast to the eyes. The Chandelas built 85 temples in all but today only 20 temples stand intact. Visit the eastern and western group of temples before being transferred to the airport to catch your flight to Varanasi. Upon your arrival in Varanasi, you will be transferred to your hotel. In the evening visit Ganges by boat ride and see praying ceremony of holy river Ganges. Overnight at your hotel breakfast included.
Day 18 – Varanasi
At sunrise this morning we will take you to banks of the river Ganges where we board a boat to see the morning ablutions of the Hindus. The boat ride starts from Dasashwamedh Ghat and ends at Manikarnika Ghat along the sacred Ganges. Time permitting we can also visit Assi Ghat, Dasaswamedh Ghat, Harish Chandra Ghat, Manikarnika Ghat, Tulsi Ghat. See the Kashi Vishwanath temple and the Gyanvyapi kund and the mosque attached to it. Also visit the Benares Hindu University the largest residential university in India with more than 3000 residential students. Return to your hotel for breakfast. Later visit Sarnath the sacred city for the Buddhist all over the world. It was here that Lord Buddha preached his first sermon to his first five disciples. As this is a very long day we will give you the remainder of the day at your leisure. Overnight at your hotel and breakfast included.
Day 19 – Varanasi to Mumbai
After breakfast this morning you will be transferred to the airport to board your flight to Mumbai. Upon arrival in Mumbai you will be transferred to your hotel where you will have a chance to freshen up before we head out for the remainder of the day of sightseeing. Overnight Mumbai and breakfast included.
Day 20 Mumbai
After breakfast this morning we depart for an excursion to Elephanta Caves and then a city tour of Mumbai before returning to the hotel this evening where you will have the remainder of the day at your leisure. Overnight at your hotel and breakfast included.
Day 21 – 24 Mumbai to Goa
After breakfast this morning we depart for Goa on the day train and upon arrival we check-in to your hotel where you will have the next 3 days to enjoy the area with limited tours planned. Overnight at your hotel and breakfast included during your stay in Goa.
Day 25 Badami
After breakfast this morning we proceed to Badami, upon arrival we have a lunch break and then begin a half day sightseeing excursion visiting Badami Caves, which are picturesquely situated at the mouth of a ravine between two rocky hills, then onto North Fort which is the largest enclosure, and lastly to Banashankari, which is a quaint hamlet built in the Dravidian style and taking its name from the goddess Banashankari. Next we check in to the hotel where you will have the remainder of the day at your leisure and breakfast included.
Day 26 Badami
After breakfast this morning we will begin a one day excursion to Aihole and Pattadakal, UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Aihole – is famous as the Cradle of Indian Temple Architecture and has over 125 temples including Lad Khan Temple, Drug (fort) Temple, Ravalphadi Cave Temple, Konti Temple Complex, and the Jain Meguthi Temple just to name a few. Evening at your leisure and overnight at the hotel and breakfast included.
Day 27 Hospet /Hampi
This morning after breakfast we will drive to Hampi to begin our day full day sightseeing, visiting the Lotus Mahal, this visually appealing structure has two levels, with open pavilions at the bottom and balconies above. An elegant example of the fusion of the Hindu and Muslim styles of architecture, later on we will visit Elephant Stables, Pushkarni and Hazara Rama Temple – a royal temple reserved for ceremonial use. We then check-in to the hotel for the remainder of the evening at your leisure. Overnight at the hotel and breakfast included.
Day 28 Hospet / Hampi
Early this morning (around sunrise for the best views) we will depart Hospet for Hampi and climb to the top of a hill to view this amazing vista. Next we will have breakfast before visiting the world Heritage Centre which is the most beautiful and evocative of all the ruins of Karnataka. This structure has a very plain exterior but the interior is stunningly ornate, with graceful arched corridors, projecting balconies and lotus-shaped fountains. We will return to the hotel late this afternoon where you can rest and have the remainder of the day at your leisure. Overnight at your hotel and breakfast included.
Day 29 Hassan – Halebid – Belur – Hassan
After breakfast we depart this morning on a long journey to Hassan. Upon arrival we check into the hotel and this evening we can take an excursion to the local markets. The evening is at your leisure. Overnight at your hotel and breakfast included.
Day 30 Hassan
After breakfast this morning we will visit the Temples of Belur which are stunning examples of Hoysalas architecture. What the Hoysalas temples lack in size is compensated by their extremely skilled craftsmanship. The Hoysalas artists carved hundreds of incredibly intricate soapstone sculptures, and the temple walls are covered with figures of men in battles, dancing women, Hindu deities, birds and animals. Return to the hotel and the evening is at your leisure. Overnight at the hotel and breakfast included.
Day 31 Mysore
This morning we leave after breakfast and make our way to Mysore. Enroute we will visit Saravanabelagola, a Jain pilgrimage center which contains the world’s tallest monolithic statue of the Jain saint, the statue stands at 27m on the Indragiri Hills. If you want to reach the top there are only 1000 steps to climb or you can chose to be carried by the locals. Next we will visit Srirangapatnam – Island fortress of Tippu Sultan. Visit Tippu’s summer Palace, Mosque, and Srirangapatnam Temple. Upon arrival in Mysore you will be transferred to the hotel, check in and the remainder of the evening at your leisure. Overnight hotel and breakfast included.
Day 32 Mysore
This morning proceed on a city tour of Mysore, visit magnificent Maharaja’s Palace –built in an Indo Saracen, later proceed to Chamundi Hills A prominent landmark, located at the outskirts of the city. Also visit Art Gallery which houses a fine collection of paintings and musical instruments. This evening visit he beautiful Vrindavan Gardens, known for its landscaping and water fountains. Overnight at your hotel and breakfast included.
Day 33 Mysore via Bangalore to Kochi Fly from Bangalore to Cochin
This morning after breakfast we will drive to Bangalore, the capital city of Karnataka where we will visit the famous Lal Bagh Botanical Garden, known for housing a variety of old trees, roses, fountains, pools, and an assortment of herbs, and then we will proceed to the airport for your flight to Cochin. Upon arrival in Kochi you will check into your hotel in time to freshen up for an evening at your leisure. Overnight at the hotel and breakfast included.
Day 34 Kochi
After breakfast depart the hotel for sightseeing of the area of Cochin which has been luring wanderers and traders for over 600 years and remains a living homage to its colonial past. During your tour you will visit the famous Chinese fishing nets, the synagogue, the Dutch Palace and churches of St. Francis and Santa Cruz Basilica. This evening enjoy a traditional Kathakali Dance show before dinner. Overnight at the hotel and breakfast included.
Day 35/36 Allepey
After an early breakfast enjoy a leisurely drive to Allepey where you will board your houseboat for an amazing day on the Backwaters. The Backwaters are often referred to as the “Venice of the east”. The 900kms of backwaters are the undisputed main attraction for the state of Kerala. Overnight on the houseboat and all meals included. In the morning you will be transferred to your homestay for another relaxing day at your leisure. Overnight at homestay.
Days 37 & 28 Periyar
After breakfast you will depart from your houseboat stay for the scenic drive to Periyar. Upon arrival in Periyar you will check-in to your hotel. This afternoon you will depart for a tour of the local spice plantation and enjoy an elephant ride. This evening you will be enchanted by the Kalarippayat, the ancient tradition of martial training and discipline. Overnight at hotel, breakfast included.
Early morning departure for trekking inside the wildlife sanctuary where you just might get a glimpse of an elephant, surely you will interact with monkeys and sightseeing of other wild animals in their natural habitat. During the jungle walk you will have to tine to enjoy the breakfast provided. Upon returning to the hotel you will have a chance to freshen up, perhaps have a massage or other Ayurvedic treatments. This evening you will have a local dinner provided in a private home including cooking demonstration. Along with the activities you will take the third course of treatment. Day 39 Madurai
After breakfast you will depart the hotel and drive to Madurai. Upon arrival in Madurai you will check-in to your hotel and have time for a quick lunch before departing on your cycle rickshaw tour of the city featuring the Gandhi Memorial Museum, Tirumalai Nayak Palace, Madurai Markets and the famous Sri Meenakshi Temple. Please ensure you bring along suitable clothing for temple entrance (no footwear allowed and long sleeves and full pant is a must). This evening will be at your leisure to enjoy this amazing city. Day 40 Tanjore
After breakfast you will depart the hotel enroute to Tanjore, the ancient capital of the Chola Kings. On the way to Tanjore you will visit Gangakondacholpuram, and Darasuram Temples which are both designated UNESCO heritage sites. Upon arrival in Tanjore you will visit Brihadeshwar Temple, the bronze art gallery, Saraswati Mahal Library and a local cottage industry for bronze statue making. Evening at your leisure and overnight at the hotel and breakfast included.
Day 41 Pondicherry
After breakfast you will depart via private vehicle to the Union Territory of Pondicherry, this scenic drive will take approximately 3 hours and enroute you will visit Auroville where you will discover this city of the future. After returning to Pondicherry check-in to your hotel and freshen up. This evening you will enjoy dinner in a French restaurant after a heritage walk of the city of Pondicherry. Overnight at your hotel in Pondicherry and breakfast included.
Days 42 & 43 Mamallapurum
After breakfast you will drive to the seaside village of Mamallapurum to visit the famous Shore Temple a most outstanding example of Dravidian art and architecture and later you to view The 5 Rathas and many other UNESCO World Heritage sites. Overnight in Mamallapuram at your hotel and breakfast included.
After breakfast you will drive to the ancient city of Kanchipuram (the city of 1000 Temples) where you will visit Kailasnatha and Ekambaranathar Temples, and tour the cottage industry well known for its silk saris. Lunch will be provided in a traditional home. Return to the hotel this evening and enjoy the remainder of your day at leisure. Overnight at the hotel and breakfast and lunch included.
Day 44 Chennai
After breakfast you will have a sightseeing tour of the city visiting Kalakshetra Foundation, the Temple of Art after lunch your sightseeing will include a visit to the Flower Market, Marina Beach, Santhome Cathedral, Parthasarathy Temple (Vishnu Temple) and Elliot’s Beach before returning to the hotel. This evening we have arranged for you to visit a local astrologer please ensures you have the exact date, time and location of your birth for an accurate reading. As tonight is your last night on tour we will enjoy a farewell dinner and a very late check out from the hotel before you proceed to the airport.
